INSTRUCTOR CONTROLLED TRAINING PROP

The instructor Controlled Leak Tree Training Prop (patent pending) uses all the features of the Base Training Prop--a wide variety of pipes, valves, flanges and connectors all designed to have preset leaks or easily be made to leak. Add the sets of interchangeable pipes, and you have significant training flight flexibility. But what makes the Instructor Controlled Prop are two unique features: 1) the addition of instructor controlled motorized valves that can remotely open and close water flow adding a dynamic and unpredictable level of realism to training scenarios; and 2) the concept of "cascading failures".
  • Instructor Controlled Motorized Valve (ICMV) The ability to open, close or alter flow rate during training to change timing/dynamics to simulate real world scenarios. ICMV must be designed into system at time of manufacture.
  • Cascading Failures When confronted with pipes damaged from freeze, age, pressure or collision, teams may be fixated on the visible leak. This leak has reduced overall pressure through the damages pipe. When the pipe is repressurized either by leak mitigation or manual re-pressurization, it is possible/likely that a secondary leak, not visible at first inspection may now be flowing--this is what we term a "cascading failure". With the ICMV, trainers have the option to trigger the cascading failure as a teaching moment.
